WALT identify bias in a text.  We had to highlight the words that showed Koro Apirana being biased.  He would be mean to Kahu because he wanted a boy to be the chief but Kahu was next in line and she is a girl. I thought this activity was tricky to find where he was being biased.The easiest part was the ones where it said he was grumpy with her.  The hardest part was where it didn’t say it very clearly.I’m enjoying learning about Whale Rider.

I think the most interesting technique was testimonial because I know lots of famous people.I think slogan was the hardest because it's hard to figure out a catch phrase.

I was learning Divisibility Rules.It was easy and hard.The easy part was I had help but friends and teacher.The hard part was when I had to understand the divisibility rules.I got stuck with rules but a had a friend to help me.

Term 2 Week 2

Yesterday we went on a trip to the Buddhist temple.We went on a bus to get there.All the year 6's and year 5's went on the trip.Some parents came to help supervise the kids so we can do lots of activities.We went to the Buddhist temple so we can practice our values in public and use them at school. Also at home as well.We arrived at the temple and we saw these people waiting out side with umbrella's so they helped us by not getting wet so we were practicing our manners on them.We learnt the 3 g and 4 g. The 3 g are do good deeds, say good words and think good thoughts.The 4 g are give others hope, give others joy, give others confidence and give other convenience.We started our fist activity the montro grass but we could not go on the special grass because it was pouring of rain.So we only just looked at the grass.The monks told us if we stepped on the grass the grass will pop back up like how we can.When somebody stands on somebody else they will feel sad. After our first activity we went to the orangery activity place.We made  flowers.It was quite easy for me but not for other people.It was fun because we did not have to cut out any thing out. We just had to pull them out.After that activity we went to our 3 activity place were we had to tip water on the little Buddha statue. We tipped water on water on the left shoulder and well we were tipping the water on the Buddha we had to say do good deeds.When we tipped the water on the right shoulder we had to say, say good words.Then we had to tip the water on the back and we had to say think good thoughts.Then we went inside this room were we watched a little video when the other people we tipping water.We had finish watching the short video. It was perfect because the movie had just finish in time when the last people had finished tipping water.Then we had brownies and water that they gave us and that was very yummy.Then we went into this lounge place when there was a movie.The movie was about using there values.After that 2 police men came in and they introduced them self's and asked for 3 kids to come up and tell the rest of the people the 3 g and the 4 g.I was one of the 3 people and my friend Tyreese got to be one of the 3 and a girl.We told the people the 3 g and 4 g then we got to do a little play when 3 kids and one police officer was playing by him self and we asked if we could play with him but he said NO. So were played passes and having fun until he came up and asked can i play with you. we said yes and he had apologias and said sorry what I said to you.  This showed us how to use our values.
Then we jumped on the bus and went back to school, I enjoyed it and learnt more about values that I can use.

Bridge to Terabithia Impacts

Bridge to Terabithia

We were learning how to summarise a book that we learnt was bridge to terabithia. This was easy because we watched the moving yesterday i could remember all the parts in the story.My class mates helped me by remembering how to put the chapters in order.

Making Connections

Room 20 has been reading the book, Bridge to Terabithea. In the story, it was raining really hard and the water was swollen flooded. Yesterday it was pouring here as well. So we decided to do some authentic learning. We made some raincoats from plastic bags and walked down to the creek behind our school. We could see the water flowing fast and the plants that had been flattened. I thought this was fun because we could go in the rain and looking in the creek well it was pouring down with rain.

I think this was hard and easy.I think this was easy because we did a practice run before hard and that helped me a lot.It was hard because I did not know how to read decimals but I tried my best.My class mated helped me a lot doing the decimals numbers.

I learnt our values witch was  trustworthy of jobs.This was easy because I had help from other mates in my group.My friends and class room mates helped me because they were included in my videos. I liked this because I think that I'm trustworthy of doing jobs so i could show that.

Bike Skills

I enjoyed going over the ramp instead over go in a straight line. It was fun because we went over the ramp and went for a longer ride then the other years. The hardest thing to do was riding over the ramp and going over the mulch and riding on the hard grass. Riding over ramps with a Mouton bike was new for me because I normally use a BMX bike and not changing the gears. I learnt how to use the gears when I go over the soft grass and up the ramps that were straight and up and down.I learnt how to change the gear that suits me.

Making Prediction

I am learning to make prediction based on the cover and blurb.
This was easy because we got to work in groups and talk about the story.
My learning was easy because I asked for help and try my best that I could to try and finish this.

Term 1 Week 6

These last 3 weeks we've been doing lots of stuff like Camp, Assembly announcing head boy and girl and badges and much more.What I was excited the most was announcing head boy and girl.

Camp: Last week we went to Camp Merc. It was a lot of fun. We did Stackem, archery, rock climbing, tree climbing, abseiling, sailing, canoeing and surfing. My favourite activity was surfing because it was lots of fun. It's a water activity and I love water activities. Camp Merc is based on Sir peter blake sea life Marine . Sir peter Blake was a old man that was a great sailor. We had passed away from pirates. When he passed away, most of the country was wearing red socks to remember him.There were 3 dorms. 1 for the girls and 2 for the boys. The girls dorms were upstairs and there was 1 boy dorm up stairs next to to the parents were they sleepy,  1 boy dorm downstairs.We had to wake up in the morning for our morning run on the beach at 7:00 but we had to wake up in the morning at 6:30. Everybody was so tired when they woke up but I was excited about the run in the morning. The best thing was the sunrise, I think that's the best sunrise I have ever seen.

Badges: This week our badges have arrived.I'm getting a badge for head boy but it hasn't arrived yet but my P.E monitor badge has arrived.When I earned my badge I had 3 badges. When I get my head boy badge I would have 4 badges, That's what I'm looking forward to. Some other people got badges like environs monitor P.e Monitor and wet day monitor. All of the kids in room 20 got one of those badges.

I'm looking forward to the next 2 weeks.

Writing Poems Using our Senses

I was learning to use my senses. It makes my poem more interesting for the reader.
It was easy because I asked for helped and got tips of the teacher and friends.

I'm most proud of the taste and smells because that was a bit tricky for me.

My First Day of Year 6

Reflection
I found this work easy because... Me and my classmates did a big brainstorm about how to make this a bit easier for me and everyone else. And I re-read it to myself so it could make sense and checked it with the teacher.

Kenning Poem

This was easy because I know my verbs,adjective and nouns.This was fun because we got to change the font and describe yourself. That was the easy part.We learnt a new suffix that was someone who. Some who is er. So for an example is A league player someone who plays league.

Comparing Numbers

This was easy and hard. The hard bit was to do square number. When Mrs Graham taught me it got really easy so when I was doing the square numbers it was easy. It was easy because I know odds and even. What I noticed was that there were lots of number and there were 1 line of evens and 1 line of odds.

Term 1 Week 2

The last 2 weeks we have been doing lots of stuff for the school like haka powhiri. My favourite thing was being kaea for the haka powhiri. It was quite scary. I was a bit nervous but I think I lead it really well. I was proud of myself at the end and some girls got to lead the Karanga. We had a new system with our house points and a tick chart. I think it's cool because we get to put a gold token in a bucket. I want my house to win lots of gold tokens and win the end  of  term fun day. .In every classroom there will be a tick chart so if you show one of our school values that are Respect, Resilience and Responsibility. If we use one of the values you will get a tick. If you get 10 ticks you get an award like 10 minutes of free time, or in the library and many more. If you get another 10 ticks you just keep getting ticks until you get up to 100. If you get 100 ticks you get a a big reward like ring the school bell or do other cool things.

WELCOME TO MY BLOG

This year I am in room 20 and all boys class.

I am enjoy our class at the moment.As us boys we have to be good role models to younger students but not only younger students our year 5,4 we need the boys to show them how to behave and act around the school. We have to be good leaders and great role models around them so the can behave like the boys behave.I like my job as a P.E monitor.I like getting all the sports acquirement for our class to play hep of games.I like putting the computers away and getting them out.I like doing my jobs such as Computers,P.E monitor,Peer mediator and a councillor.

My Dream for 2017 is to get Head Boy and on the on Honours Board.I am looking forward to be getting our badges for P.E monitors and Councillor. I am looking forwards to be doing councillors things like showing visitors around and doing stuff with them.I am looking forwards to be going to camp.
